I have been trying to implement pretty much any kind of javascript based gallery on my site for a while now, initially without the use of a plugin. I have successfully done this on another site without much hassle in WordPress: http://aestheticliteracy.com/portfolio/

Now for my personal site I have been tweaking around with a whole variety of lightbox/gallery/image display items, but none have worked within WordPress, but they do on static HTML pages hosted on my domain.

I finally decided to explore plugin options. Part of the reason I chose this one is because it seemed like support was fairly active for it.

So the issue, as with all the other galleries that I have tried on my site, is that it simply isn’t doing anything. I have it activated, and currently on autoload (which I intend not to use, I only want it to work on this page: http://samanthaarmacost.com/portfolio/) But I thought that the plugin would load the js and css but it doesn’t appear to be in the header, so I added the links, but that also didn’t work, so I took them away.

Some page where it should be working:
    http://samanthaarmacost.com/portfolio/
    http://samanthaarmacost.com/2009/01/icy/
    http://samanthaarmacost.com/2009/03/fre … wallpaper/

So, I am dumbfounded with this. It is making me insane and in the end I am going to suspect that it will be some tiny thing that will resolve this.

Thanks so much for taking the time to address my problem, as well as for creating the plugin.

Haha, this is kind of funny, I think I actually "know" you, vaguely, though you’d know my brother better.

Anyway, I just found that amusing, I’m taking a look at your problem now.

I was gonna ask you to verify you’d activated it, but you couldn’t set it to autoload if you hadn’t.

Which version of WP are you using?

I also noticed you’ve got the googleapi’s copy of ajax loading, is that something you’re doing, or a plugin or theme? I suspect something else might be causing a conflict, unfortunately I can’t tell enough just looking at your page.

Wow, yeah.  I do know your brother, although I haven’t seen him for a few years.  Probably since he borrowed my high school graduation gown for one of his films.

Anyway, I’m using 2.7.1.  I suspect that the googleapi is for one of the plugins I’m using… Hmm. No. I think it is being used for my little welcome message to new visitors. So I’ve taken that out. But it still appears to not work.

These are the plugins that I have installed, plus Akismet and cforms (they wouldn’t fit in the screenshot):

    Hmm, this is really strange…

Check in the wp-slimbox2 directory and see if there’s any sort of error log file (or in the root directory), and let me know if you see anything.

What theme are you using, and would you mind temporarily switching to the default theme to see if it works that way?

If that’s still not doing it, maybe temporarily disable the other plugins and test it then?

No error in the wp-slimbox2 directory, but there was one in root with the last error occurring on March 5.

I have deactivated all the plugins that were not installed on my friend’s site where Lightbox2 works as a non-plugin, but still no dice.

The theme is one I custom made. AH!  Activating the default theme makes it work, so it is something that I have messed up, although I have no idea what that would be.

    Resolved!

Since this was one of the first themes that I created, it isn’t as solid as some others that I have made, ie the one for my friend. As such, I was missing a rather vital element in the header for many plugins:
    [code:23rd7qw7]<?php wp_head(); ?>[/code:23rd7qw7]

Now I have no excuse to not have my site ready to send off in my job search as soon as possible.

So, thanks for putting up with my foolishness, and I hope you and your family are doing well.

Excellent, glad I was able to help you fix your theme and get the plugin working. And we’re all doing well.

    Good luck with everything.
