I have just installed WordPress 3.0.2 with my hosting at http://www.bluehost.com, and wanting to use it as a simple CMS installed the Simple CMS Plugin.
It say on the Simple CMS Plugin download page that "If you are a WordPress Administrator you will not see any difference, but if you log in as a WordPress Editor or below, you will see a vastly simplified administration panel suitable for simple static websites."
However, I see this "vastly simplified administration panel" even when logged in as admin – I don’t have access to any of the other admin menu items after activating this plugin, even when logged in as ‘admin’
I have worked out that I can still go to the plugins page by directly typing in the URL <domain>/wp-admin/plugins.php and deactivate it, but does anyone know why this is happening?
December 7, 2010 at 8:42 am #9123AnonymousMemberSimple CMS was working great on 3.0.1 … then I upgraded today to 3.0.2 and the dashboard and plugins, etc. disappeared, even though I was logged in as an administrator. I used a bookmark to access the plugins and deactivated Simple CMS. No more problem.
Except now I can’t restrict the client to safe pages. Please update! I love this plugin; it’s solved many problems for me.

Trying to find a fix right now.
December 7, 2010 at 10:16 am #9125imported_RyanMemberNew version is being uploaded right now.
December 7, 2010 at 10:39 am #9126imported_RyanMemberHere’s the new zip file … http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/r … ms.1.7.zip
Or you can update via the auto-plugin updater if you like.
Thanks for pointing out the bug ” title=”Smiley” />

December 9, 2010 at 2:14 am #9129imported_RyanMemberGood to hear it worked for you ” title=”Smiley” />
I don’t think this was a bug with WP 3.0.2 specifically though. I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t have worked properly on 3.0 or 3.0.1 either. I didn’t check though.

This plugin really turns WordPress into a great option as a basic CMS for static web pages – I’m surprised I don’t see more talk about it on the internet. (The other essential plugin is ‘No Comments On Pages’).
I have been spending the last few days playing with Joomla. It’s a very powerful tool, but seems a bit of an overkill if I’m just setting up a site with static pages for a customer to edit. I’ve just returned to this forum to find the problem with the Simple CMS plugin resolved, so I think that clinched WordPress as the ideal solution for my basic requirements.
Thanks again!
December 15, 2010 at 1:03 am #9131imported_RyanMemberYeah, I’m surprised it isn’t more popular too. I assumed when I wrote this plugin that it would be wildly popular, but it seems most people don’t care about this sort of functionality.
