Problems with 1.1

Sorry, the gist of your earlier question blew right by, but you might be on to something.

Besides active_plugins and wp_slimbox, the search says that a "slimbox" listing can be found in the following:

recently_edited
_transient_update_plugins
wp_minify
_transient_plugin_slugs
_site_transient_update_plugins

Note: the update notification for wp-slimbox2 (1.1) is showing up on WP’s dashboard, so I’m assuming that accounts for some of this.  And as mentioned, slimbox2 is excluded by name from wp-minify.  But assumptions can be misleading.  Do you need to see the actual values, or does the mere fact that I’m finding anything, point toward the problem?

Hi malcalevak,

Tried your suggestion.  No luck.

1. Deactivated 1.0.3.3 and deleted via WP’s control panel
2. Ran a check for orphaned options, using a plugin called Clean Options (v1.3.2) just to make sure nothing had been left behind. There were no slimbox orphans.
3. Installed 1.1 and activated via WP.
4. Looked at the options page. Slight difference from last time — not everything was blank. Overlay Opacity was "0".  Resize easing read "swing". And all 4 image caption order boxes read: "disabled".  All other fields were blank.
5. Entered the appropriate options and hit "update" options".  The page refreshed and everything returned to the initial state — mostly blank fields, except for the values noted above.
6. Checked the front end site.  Sure enough, the plugin was broken.
7. Deactivated and removed 1.1.  Checked for orphans.
8. Installed 1.0.3.3.  And we’re up and running again.

So… at this point, I’m at a loss.

Any ideas?

Didn’t have a chance to look at it today, but I haven’t given up. Gonna have to look up some of the WP functions I’m calling. I’d ask you to enable warnings and error messages, but it’d probably be too hard to pinpoint which ones are coming from wp-slimbox2 and which are from others, plus I don’t think there’s an "on admin pages only" option.
Just to confirm, you said you were running the latest and greatest version of WP, correct?

WP 3.3.1 is correct. Until now, Slimbox has been an excellent performer and a mainstay on our site. Not to put any pressure on you, but I’m sure a lot of people are rooting for you to get this sorted out. Fingers crossed.

when I upgraded to 1.1 from 1.0.3.4 on WP3.3.1

I’m using the standard configuration

Didn’t notice there was a problem until I had already upgraded all my sites which use the plugin – a good lesson for me not to take things for granted in future!!

Tried disabling and activating, deleting and reinstalling the plugin but no difference .

Tried disabling all other plugins, no difference.

Tried changing to base theme which made the plugin work again

So clearly something in my theme was conflicting with 1.1 but have no idea what.

Had to roll back to 1.0.3.4, then it worked straight away

I do have two other sites where 1.1 seems to be working without issue so it seems to be a theme-related conflict.

Sorry I cannot be more help, but thank you for your continuing efforts.

I’ve gone and merged your topic with that one, though you don’t specifically reference what happens in your case, just that switching themes seemed to resolve it.

Could you mention which themes it seems to work on, and which ones it didn’t (of the ones you already tried)?

When you look at the options page, does it not load properly depending on the theme, or is just the functioning of the plugin at fault?

Ok, still waiting to hear back from 3MM, but lheintzman, if you don’t mind giving the following a shot, it could help me track down the issue.
If you can take another shot at installing 1.1, but then replace the index.php with the one I’ve attached. And add the admin.js script to the javascript folder.
If that fixes things…great, but if not, go to the options page, but add &debug to the URL and tell me what spits out at the top of the page.

Hopefully that’ll get me on the right track.

Reinstalled 1.1. After replacing index.php, adding admin.js to the javascript folder and entering settings on the options page:

Options still not saved.  Slimbox2 still inactive on the site.

If I’m reading that correctly, it’s saying you’ve got no counterText value? It’s not intentionally blank, is it?
Looking over everything, I’m unclear, when you look at the settings page, are the values showing as set, or are they all showing as blank or whatever?
I understand, from what you’ve said, that they don’t save when you change them, but for now I want to first see if they’re loading properly.
On a similar line of thought, when running 1.1, if you go the the main site page and view source, can you find and copy over something that looks like the following?

After giving that ago…also try the attached index.php
All I’ve done to this one is try and force it to display errors. Not sure if it’ll work or not, but if it does, see if any print out and report back.

Will do. Need a day or two for other matters. Most likely, the counterText value is missing because that setting was overlooked during the last temporary install of 1.1.  In general, it looks like all settings are being passed along, even though the options page doesn’t acknowledge the save and continues showing  them as either blank or disabled.

I can’t seem to get the WP-Slingbox2 plugin to function correctly. I noticed that when I go to adjust the plugin settings that they don’t seem to save when I click the Save button. Due to this, I went and manually added the rel="lightbox-blahblah" function to my image links. I’m still not able to get the plugin to function.
