A new version of the template generator is being uploaded right now. There will likely be a few bugs to be ironed out over the next few hours so please don’t bother posting any reports here until 13th January NZ time as they will likely be fixed by then.

13th Jan has come and gone. However there were some spectacular bugs introduced into the system.

If you see anything which isn’t working, please let me know ASAP. The problems which were introduced were only seen in some situations, so we had no idea they existed until another web developer came to look at the site and let us know about them. If something looks wildly out of place, or isn’t working at all then please let us know. We don’t intentionally break stuff!

P.P.S.  After some further troubleshooting of the problem I mentioned in my last message (the Heading colors won’t change,) I’ve discovered a few things:

1. The Text Color and Link Color color palettes icons don’t work for H3, H4, H5, H6.  If I select a color from the palette, it does not change the color code in the associated form field.

2. Even if I manually enter the color codes for the Text Color and Link Color on Headings 2 and 3 (didn’t check the others because didn’t want to search through whole page source to find them,) the colors still don’t change after I click on Submit Design.

In the Aqua theme I’m using, the "Web Development", "Premium Membership", "Donate", "Advertising", "Pages" and "Categories" headings in the sidebars are set to H3.

Thank you very much for the bug report. I’ll get to work on fixing those ASAP. I’ll hopefully have it fixed shortly for you.

@gail – I think you are just misunderstanding what you are changing. The heading colours all seem to be working fine.

Remember that many headings are actually links, so it’s the link colour for the heading you need to change, not just the regular text colour. If you go to https://geek.hellyer.kiwi/example/?generator=on you can see better how it works as there are examples of H2, H3 etc. without links.

You are correct that the colour palette is not working correctly on some of them though and I will fix that ASAP.

All of the templates have the sidebar headings as H3’s, not just Aqua Vaccinium. But the styling of them is controlled via the "Sidebars" tab, not the headings. This way you can style them differently from the main headings.

I’m intending to add a credits section in the admin page for each theme exported. I’ll add credits for anyone who offers help with the development of the template generator. Do you have a link you would like added?

I tried to export the template I generated and got a ZIP file, but when I attempted to unzip it, I was informed that the file:

"does not appear to be compressed or encoded.  It is advised  that you obtain further information about the contents of this file from the sender or provider of the file."

The generator is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. I just want to download the template!

Hi,
There are problems with the zipping function, however as yet no one has provided me with an XML file they’ve saved from when they’ve triggered the error, so I haven’t been able to fix it ” title=”Sad” /> I need that XML file to see what the problem is, but for whatever reason no one will send me one. This is a serious problem for me and if anyone out there is able to help I would be EXTREMELY grateful!

However, it seems that this is not the problem you have discovered here. In fact I can’t see any problem at all. The ZIP file you have attached is working fine for me.

Perhaps there is something wrong with your unzipping program?

It should be any URL with geek.hellyer.kiwi and ?generator=off after it. Is it incorrect somewhere?

I think I fixed a lot of the problems with the site today. I haven’t had time to do extensive testing, but the login system seems to be working a lot better. I actually had to set everything to logged in as premium the other day to get the infernal thing to stop crashing. So some of you would have been temporarily granted free access to everything. Yes, it’s on the Template Generator’s homepage – it’s under the "Activate template generator" heading, where the two links are shown to toggle the Generator on and off; the off one also turns it on. No biggie though…
