Hi, I added the slimbox plugin to my wordpress and it worked great for the English post. Since I’m using qtranslate to have also the French version of the post, I tried everything and slimbox won’t do it’s thing.
here is the link http://www.hudsonvillagetravel.com/2009 … gas/ for the English page, if you click on the Francais link at the top right, you’ll get to the page where it doesn’t work.
I copied the code for the gallery just like in English and the thumbnails are showw but the slimbox doesn’t activate.
I tried copiing the whole html code from the English post source and same thing…
Going crazy because I can’t figure out why??
Anyone has an idea?
Thanks
LiseFebruary 21, 2009 at 3:22 am #5435malcalevakModeratorI’m not sure why, but for some reason when you switch to french, while all the other JS files load correctly, the autoload script seems to be trying to load from a french subdirectory on your site, instead of the proper directory.
I’m trying to figure out why…but it’s late, and I’m a bit stumped.
Hopefully I’ll figure something out, or someone else will.
February 21, 2009 at 3:25 am #5436liseMemberThanks Malcalevak for at least looking at it. What if I would upload the js files to the subdirectory fr?
Lise
February 21, 2009 at 3:28 am #5437malcalevakModeratorWell, it’s technically a php file that’s generated into JS, you could try it though, but it’s actually looking for:
http://www.hudsonvillagetravel.com/fr/w … 1234995702
instead of:
http://www.hudsonvillagetravel.com/wp-c … 1234995702But I’m confused by it only affecting this JS file, even though it loads the main one and the CSS just fine.
I’ll add that the featured content plugin on your site appears to have a similar problem, but it’s limited to only affecting a few image files.
I may need to look at qtranslate…
February 21, 2009 at 7:13 pm #5438malcalevakModeratorLise,
I’m still looking into your issue, but as a potential short term fix, could you try switching from the [code:1syjwoxj]/fr/foo[/code:1syjwoxj] method to the [code:1syjwoxj]?lang=en[/code:1syjwoxj] method in qtranslate?
I dunno if it’ll fix the issue or not, but it’s worth a shot, let me know if that’s at least a temporary fix.I’ve sent the qtranslate creator an e-mail to see if he can help me iron out a better resolution.
February 22, 2009 at 3:03 pm #5439liseMemberSorry been sick and not up to using my brain LOL
Now I’m going to try what you said, I’m guessing that code is in the autoload js?Will let you know how it goes
Thanks
LiseFebruary 22, 2009 at 3:33 pm #5440malcalevakModeratorNo…that’s a setting in qtranslate
February 22, 2009 at 4:57 pm #5441liseMemberOops! well can’t blame it on my brain but my lack of knowledge of all these plugins.
I really don’t want to mess up with qtranslate, might screw up the pages.
I’ll wait and see you get an answer from the qtranslate creator, otherwise I’ll just refer the French page to the English one for the slideshow.
Thanks again for taking the time,
Lise
February 22, 2009 at 5:52 pm #5442malcalevakModeratorIt’s a setting in qtranslate…you’re not messing with code or anything, it just has 3 choices for configuring the language.
I did get back a suggestion from the qtranslate guy, but it wasn’t an especially good one since he bypassed the recommended method of loading JS files.
February 22, 2009 at 6:37 pm #5443liseMemberOK, I`ll try it. Where in qtranslate do I find this code…because all I did was upload the plugin and activate it.
Then there is a page for settings but it`s where you choose the language.
Thanks again
LiseFebruary 22, 2009 at 6:55 pm #5444malcalevakModeratorIt’s under the advanced settings, click show, then in the first setting, URL Modification Mode, select Use Query Mode (?lang=en) and then save your changes.
February 22, 2009 at 7:34 pm #5445liseMemberOMG you’re a genius, it works!! Thank you so much.
Now why do you think it’s only a temporary fix? Can I leave it like that?
Again thanks a lot.
Lise
February 22, 2009 at 8:20 pm #5446malcalevakModeratorWell, I guess it’s technically a permanent fix. Maybe "inadequate" would be a better word, since it requires you to run qtranslate in that mode, but I guess it will have to do.
Glad it worked.
It’s too bad no one has provided a French translation to WP-Slimbox2, if they had we could test to see if the proper images load or not.
February 22, 2009 at 8:32 pm #5447liseMemberWell maybe someone will translate it one day and I’d be happy to test it for you ” title=”Smiley” />.
For now I’m a happy camper.
Thanks a bunch
