I have a WordPress blog. I have the Slimbox2 plugin installed. I have a Picasa account. I have images uploaded to a Picasa web album (let’s say, by using the Picasa3 app).
Now… Uh, so what do I do to put the Picasa images in a nice Slimbox2 presentation, again?

Basically you just insert a link with a picasaweb thumbnail inside as follows:
[code:1bso3rgh]<a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/ujohann0405/Mexiko?feat=featured#5281661081342459650/"><img src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_z1GyXh0V9qw/SUw6xSFsPwI/AAAAAAAADs0/TEFnv28_zBw/s144-c/IMGP1222.JPG" alt="Test2" /></a>[/code:1bso3rgh]The same is done for Flickr. These links would fail with standard autoload because they aren’t links to images, so the script takes the thumbnail image and derives a standard image link.

I just came across this nifty plugin called <a href="http://rawlinson.us/blog/articles/picasaweb-wordpress-plugin/">PicasaWeb</a> written a while ago by Bill Rawlinson, which takes an RSS URI and then pops out the thumbnails and links to the pics. I’m looking at it, trying to figure out if I can make it work with shortcode (so that it can be used within a page or post) as I’ve also suggested on the author’s post, but it’s probably getting a bit too late here for bright ideas. But it’d be a kick to make it work, as that plugin outputs pure and simple HTML for the thumbnails and the pics, of any specified album… Used together with Slimbox2 it’d be terrific!

E.g. in the case of Picasa albums, I’d recommend using <a href="http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/picasa-images-express/">Picasa Image Express</a> (by <a href="http://psytoy.net/picasa-image-express/">Scrawl</a>) which has several niceties: it has a built-in Picasaweb album / picture browser, from which you pick (select) the images to be inserted in your post, and it has built-in support for your WP-Slimbox2 plugin.
Just select "Lightbox" as the link option (or you can set it to the default "Direct Link" if you have the appropriate corresponding settings in WP-Slimbox2) and it’ll work perfectly.
I’ve just tested it on two installs, and verified that it works out of the box.
February 26, 2009 at 11:43 pm #5084imported_RyanMemberI haven’t tried the Picasa gallery, but I installed this plugin for use with FlickR a few minutes ago and it works flawlessly! I now have a full-featured FlickR gallery embedded in my site which utilizes Slimbox2, good work ” title=”Smiley” />
You can see it in action on my local hockey club’s website … http://dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi/gallery/n … lery-2008/

July 22, 2010 at 10:43 pm #5086imported_RyanMemberI removed that plugin from the site quite a while back now. I’m not the main contributor to the site anymore, even though I still administer it and have removed a bunch of things the new contributors aren’t making use of or appreciate.
