It seems no one else has been willing to fill the void of this plugin, so I’ve decided to hack it back into a working format.
Some of the features have been removed. There is now no administration panel, but the basic plugin functionality is still there. Simple upload, activate and when logged in as an editor the plugin should only show the content necessary for static pages.
The new version is attached below. If you test it, please let me know how it goes and if you don’t find any problems I’ll upload it to the WP plugins repository.
January 18, 2009 at 9:44 am #4648AnonymousMemberHi Ryan,
i´m using simple cms since it´s first version and point everyone, who may need it at your plugin. thanks for porting this to wp 2.7. i really appreciate it.
January 18, 2009 at 10:32 am #4649imported_RyanMemberNo problem.
Have you tried it? I need some feedback ASAP as I’d like to get uploaded into the WP plugins repository so that others can find it, but I don’t like doing that until I’ve had someone test it to check that it actually works in a reasonable way.
January 21, 2009 at 11:27 pm #4650fjkMemberi didn´t really test it. i just uploaded and activated it. fact is that i´m developing a site at the moment and simplecms is the last thing i will test, because it affects all other plugins > ergo: i´ll have to get the rest done, before testing simplecms extensivly. at the moment i can only drop requests and ideas for sollutions regarding the problems that will come with my requests ” title=”Wink” />
if you know what you´d like to see tested, you can drop me a mail and i´ll run your requested test. otherwise you´ll have to wait for my first reports about 1-2 weeks, i guess. wish you best!
January 22, 2009 at 12:16 am #4651imported_RyanMemberThanks.
Well it looks like you at least checked a few things, so I might just go and upload it into the plugin repository with a ‘beta’ label on it so everyone knows to be cautious of it. It’s probably better to have a beta available which works with 2.7 than a stable version which requires an out of date version.
I’ll hopefully get time to upload it to the plugins repository tonight.

January 22, 2009 at 11:54 am #4653imported_RyanMemberIt’s now in the plugin repository … http://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/r … le-cms.zip
January 24, 2009 at 6:50 am #4654nv1962MemberJust installed it on my staging server. Looks really neat, a stripped WP! Question though: in WP2.7, when you land on the "main" dashboard page you see (untill you hide it as a "user below admin") the simplified QuickPress pane. At least, I’m seeing it with the test Editor users I created. Of course it disappears from sight once you navigate about (e.g. to the Pages or Media options) because the links to the Dashboard itself are gone, too, but I wonder if QuickPress shouldn’t be chopped off from visibility altogether.
Oh – and under the Edit menu, strangely the item "Edit" doesn’t appear (one has to click on the menu icon itself)
Other than that: Simple CMS is fantabulous with 2.7 too – of course.
January 25, 2009 at 12:19 am #4655imported_RyanMemberThanks for the bug report ” title=”Smiley” /> I’ll try to get on to this within a day or so. I have too much other stuff to work on right now though and am drastically behind schedule.
February 9, 2009 at 10:53 pm #4656AnonymousMemberHi there,
first let me thank you for this great plugin. I’m trying it with the german Edition of WordPress – and it seems to run okay.
I think, I noticed the same bug as nv1962 – in the settings menu, there is no button for simpleCMS.
If you need a translation for the settings, let me know. I would like to help you there.
Greetings from Germany
LiliaFebruary 10, 2009 at 11:10 am #4657imported_RyanMemberThat is not a bug. There is no button for SimpleCMS anymore as there are no longer any settings for it.
I intend to setup localization support for all new plugins I create, however I made this before I learned how to localize plugins. Perhaps in a future release I’ll set it up, but not at this stage.
February 19, 2009 at 11:12 pm #4658jessebhuntMemberHi Ryan:
Thanks for the great plugin! I’ve used it on several previous versions of WordPress and loved it!
However, I’ve just installed it on a fresh WordPress 2.7.1 install, and it doesn’t seem to work.
When I login as an editor, I get a big, blank dashboard.
I’ll attach a screenshot to this post.
Please let me know if there’s anything that I can do to assist you.
Thanks,
JBBy the way … FYI … I’m using FireFox browser on Mac OSX. (but your plugin has always worked for me in the past.)
February 19, 2009 at 11:18 pm #4659imported_RyanMemberThat’s kinda weird. I don’t have time to fix it though. Maybe in a few months time perhaps.
February 20, 2009 at 6:32 am #4660jessebhuntMemberHi Ryan:
That’s too bad!
Do you know if this is a bug with version 2.7.1 or if it’s just something wrong with my installation?
Do you have any recommendations for what I might do to fix it myself?
Thanks,
JBFebruary 20, 2009 at 9:39 pm #4661imported_RyanMemberNo idea sorry. I don’t use this plugin myself so have never really tested it beyond quickly hacking together something which looked like it would work in 2.7.
If you can find a solution then I’m happy to add it to the official plugin.
