Questions on the basics

I have been struggling with making a drop down menu for a month now, and though I have read lots of tutorials and forums, I need help with the basics. 

1. Does the drop down edit the existing menu in your wordpress theme or create a new link bar? 

2. I have followed the steps as best I can, but don’t know how to actually add tabs.

here is all the info you requested, if that makes answering my question easier:

I have the multi-level navigation plugin (I think…I have tried the suckerfish too).  my css stylesheet is at http://bike49.org/wp-admin/theme-editor.php.  There is also a css sheet under the multi-level navigation tab (in the settings tab).  I am not sure which you need so here it is: http://bike49.org/wp-admin/options-gene … ons.  In both cases I changed font-size, font-families, color, and background color.  In the stylesheet I changed the link from being on the left to being horizontal below the banner.  I can’t see the links in early versions of IE.  My site is http://www.bike49.org. 

I have been going in circles for days, slowly digging myself into a frustrating hole of confusion.  I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

Yes and no. If you add the pixopoint_menu() function to your theme it will add a new menu as well as your old one. If you use the "auto theme support" option (assuming your theme works with it) in the PixoPoint menu plugin it will remove your old menu and replace it with a new one.

Visit the admin page for the plugin. There you can control what appears in the menu. You appear to have changed it to display nothing but a single dropdown displaying your WordPress links. I’m assuming this is probably not what you actually want to do.

The main problem I can see right now is that you have two identical menus displaying on your site. I’m guessing you have probably added the pixopointmenu() function in your theme twice, whereas you only want to use it once.

Thanks for the help.  I am down to two menus, and one is functioning in most browsers.  You mentioned the "auto theme support" option.  Is this something I can find now, or do I need to download something new.  I am not seeing it in the menu. ***I went ahead and fixed this my own way by changing all the fonts and background to black.  Now they are there, but you can’t see them.***

Also, If I want my dropdown menu to say "photo" but link to my picasa account I need to use the custom code, right?  I figured out how to do if for the parent link (thanks to your forums) but don’t know how to do if for the drop down links.

Hi,
The links you are posting are to your admin panel so no one can see them. I was requesting the CSS files which you didn’t link to.

The auto-theme support option is available in the PixoPoint menu plugin.

There are also options to add URLs to various menu items.
